Summary:
This position is accountable for administering and processing payroll for the US and Canadian employees.
The Payroll Manager ensures the timely and accurate processing of company salaried and hourly payrolls for both US and Canada.
This position will oversee the entire day to day processing to help lead a team of Payroll Analysts.
Responsibilities:
Manage and Process full cycle payroll for 4 US company codes and 2 Canada company codes, this would include processing bi-weekly (US) and semi-monthly (Canada) to include year-end processing.
Manage and Conduct payroll reconciliation and completion of all taxation and payroll related documentation.
Manage and Conduct year-end reconciliation, prepare year-end employee tax slips, and submit year-end Government filings to meet deadlines.
Experience with ADP and Workday systems.
Others systems as needed.
Knowledgeable with US and Canadian payroll taxation laws and regulations.
Ensure the payroll database is set up properly and to also reflect the following for US and Canada employees:
current salaries taxable benefits RRSP & DPSP percentages garnishments (if applicable) Manage and Coordinate with HR and Finance to ensure proper flow and maintenance of payroll information and payments, i.
e.
annual bonuses, merit increases, commissions, non-annual bonuses, wellness reimbursements, stipend payments etc.
Assist the Finance team with payroll related questions or reconciliations when required.
Manage, Communicate and respond effectively to payroll inquiries in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
Review and resolve issues received from Canada Revenue Agency, Revenue Quebec, Service Canada and other government agencies to include ADP.
Prepare and distribute the US and Canadian payroll processing dates annually.
Manager and respond to employee's queries and government-related requests.
Manage timely and accurate processing, balancing, auditing and completion for all assigned pay processing groups.
Manage the primary analysts responsible for uploading, balancing and troubleshooting data files containing earnings, deductions or payroll memo related data and coordinates this process with other payroll team members and assisting them with balancing and processing as needed.
Works collaboratively with team members to modify and enhance payroll tools necessary to meet organizational control and documentation requirements.
Maintains a high level of confidentiality and integrity in all aspects of their work Manage and responsible for all payroll tax deposits/filings for both USD and CAD payrolls.
Works closely with HR organizations with regards to:
bonus calculations, financial data for bonus programs, and calculation of fringe benefit rates, manual adjustments to benefit plans, leave of absence payments.
Accurately and timely responds to business data needs creating Ad Hoc report in ADP and Workday or participates in formal report creation as needed.
Responsible for quarter and year-end processes.
Test and implementation of ADP and ADP Smart Compliance functional enhancements and tax updates.
Manages and performs a variety of payroll related month-end closing responsibilities.
Manage Tax reconciliation for W-2s and Canada's T-4's.
Manage Relocation calculation and gross up.
Manage and assist in completing multiple work site returns as needed.
Manger the Funding for 401k and RRSP to third party vendor.
Transmit positive pay and ACH direct deposit files.
Provide data for worker's compensation audit.
Provide data and payment information OH workers compensation bureau.
Manage and Process off cycle checks when needed.
Provide audit assistant to internal and external auditors.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years related experience working with Payroll with Accounting responsibilities.
Working knowledge of a computerized payroll system and full cycle payroll function.
Superior customer service attitude along with the ability to effectively handle enquiries and foster positive relationships with internal and external customers.
Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS Office, proficiency with Excel, along with an aptitude for learning new systems and programs.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Highly organized with the ability to cope with multiple demands and in a fast pace environment.
Quick learner with an eye for details and demonstrated ability to work efficiently with procedures, forms, and figures.
Proven problem solving skills and resourcefulness to handle and follow-through on diverse queries, issues, and administrative issues.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
Very positive attitude and ability to work in an environment where the team is situated out of country and other US States.
Scheduling and monitoring team workload to include managing cross-training.
Decision-making and team work.
Education:
Completion of a college diploma program or equivalent in Finance and/or payroll processing.
University degree preferred and CPA designation preferred.
This position has a salary range of:
$94,400.
